Jewelry alternative for a modest dad?

I'm just about to get my college class ring and Balfour sells pendants, tie tacks, cuff links, and lapel pins that have the same design as your class ring for either accessories or gifts and I wanted to get something for my mom and dad as a recognition of the influence and encouragement they have been to me in getting through school. I was planning on getting the pendant for my mother, no issue there, however, my dad isn't much of a jewelry guy. He doesn't use a tie tac, he almost never wears shirts that require cuff links, he'd never wear a necklace/pendant, and he never wears lapel pins. I was thinking about buying the pendant and seeing if I could get some kind of a craftsman to mount in into something else like a nice Montblanc pen or a desktop pen-holder (haha, classy, huh?) or something, but I don't know what. That's what I wanted to inquire of the masses: what on earth could I get a little pendant mounted in for a simple thank you token for my father? It's small, like the head of a ring, so I don't think we could pull off putting in in a clock or anything.


Any ideas/thoughts?
