Fake MontBlanc pen? ?

I have a MontBlanc fountain pen that was gifted to me, without box an papers, bought on craigslist. So far, everything checks out,, except "Pix" which is supposed to be under the clip, has been clearly scratched out, not with crossing lines like a machine, but like someone took and awl and just scribbled over it. The entire clip is gold, not like it's plated, even where it's been scratched out. The resin is translucent, the serial number is there, the letters are proportional, but without the box and papers and "Pix" scratched out, it just seems kind of fishy. Can anyone offer more suggestions to test it with? Can you tell by the text if it's real or fake?|||If it was gifted to you I don't think you should be figuring out whether it was fake or not. If someone gave it to you, you should be thankful and just go on about it. Presume it's real because it looks like you have done your research and except for one fact, it seems to be a real pen. Nobody is going to talk behind your back and say ooo that person has a fake Mont Blanc pen. The only thing you need to worry about is getting you Montblanc refills. Go to http://www.montgomerypens.com/search_results.asp this is where you can find all the refills you need.|||Theirs such thing as fake pens?

Well I dont know anything about fountain pens, So I dont know if this is fake or not.

Meet up with the person on craigslist, and test it. If you like it then buy it, if you dont... leave lol
