Do you have to use the Swiss fire gel burners for the Montblanc fondue sets?

I am interested in buying the Montblanc Swissmar fondue set and it says it comes with a baster burner and Swiss fire gels. Do I always have to use those or can I use a candle? The pot is enameled cast iron.

Any info would be appreciated!|||I can only say I have used different types of "canned heat", Sterno, etc, and all work equally well. An enameled cast iron pan might need stronger heat than say, a candle.|||no u can use a candle ...it wont hurt the pot|||Heck, if it's enameled cast iron, you can use a blowtorch to heat up your fondue.....a little impractical, but Sterno, "canned heat" is the same thing as the Swiss gel "canned heat" sources......they just want you to buy their product.......a tea light (candle) could keep it warm once the fondue is made.......Enjoy, and if you need fondue recipes, go to FoodTV.com and they have tons of them....
